Aditya Birla Capital is one of the biggest NBFC public companies in India for Personal and business loans.
The Challenge
I was the second product designer who was hired by the company as they were planning to go digital. So me and my teammate (another designer) we were given a task to build up the entire digital lending platform for the company. As they didn't have any online presence for lending so it was a huge task for us to make it digital.
Work
1. Me & the other designer ( Shivam Grover ) were given a task to build their online journey for their users so that they can provide loans to user through there digital platform.
2. Building up there brand guidelines for digital lending was very important for us as they had many verticals so forming everything at one place was very important for us.
3. Before we launched there digital lending platform they had a turn around time of 15-20 days to approve loans. But when we finished our work on their digital lending platform and launched it. The time was reduce to 30 minutes to 1 day. That was the biggest achievement for us.
4. After launching the platform we came up with some problems as sometimes when we try something new in the process it has to go through legal and it should be in order with government policies. So that took our time in order to sort things out so that we can launch the platform legally with all the checks from the legal team.
Learning
1. Working with a big team can sometimes harm the work as there are so many approvals and authority figure through which the project has to be approved or any changes that have to be approved. So I learned how to tackle that.
2. Aditya Birla Capital didn't have their own tech team so they had vendor partners to develop the product. So working with a vendor by maintaining proper communication and process was my first time. I learnt things that communication and passing off assets for the design has to be proper and in order. Always check for difference between your design and the developed product.
3. When you join a new sector its hard to connivence the management to make changes in the product as lack of experience but I overcame that with having proper data proofs and through story telling.
