One Bank App ( UX/UI Designer )

Brief: In today's time, many people in India have two or three bank accounts every bank has there own app in which you have to log in before to see any data. So, I thought to make this experience a little better so that its easier for the user to view their data rather than switching apps.

The Challenge

This is the first project I took in which I didn't know if there is any problem that has to be solved. It was a project which the company wanted to implement, In order to provide easy access to their user's for their banking experience.

Design Process

Research

So, I searched for some apps that might be already in the market and seeing how many people use them and what are the merits of those apps

I only found out 1 app that is called Net Banking App for All Banks

Rest all every bank has their own app to operate.

Now the survey and Q&A part began for me to ask users that what problems or advantage they want if they had only one banking app.

Potential Users Interviews

I have selected freelances and office going people as the users, who use banking apps on a daily bases. I chose this category of people to understand the pain points and their challenges.

1. I conducted initial field research.

2. I sent the survey report.

Key Quotes directly from user:

“Most of the times I want to check my balance or transactions.”
“It's not that bad to have many apps, I am okay with them”
“I have to remember my password or customer Id, sometimes it's difficult going through all those apps”
“It would be really great if I could just check my balance and transactions from one app.”
“I want to have one bank app to check my balance rest I can use other apps for transactions or other services.”

Problem

After interviewing and doing a survey with users. I saw that they all want one bank app to check their transactions and balance. Rest they want to have other services in the respective apps as they are different services in different banks.

Design Principles

After my research and user interviews, I have come up with a set of design principles to admit while designing.

1. Simple Design

2. Easy of use

Wireframes

I didn't do an ideation and validation stage with the users as the problem was defined clearly that they want an app to check balance and transactions

Final UI of the App

Results

1. It was a new experience without knowing the actual problem of the user and the motive that why they would want a one bank app.

2. It was not an app that people badly wanted but it was an app of convenience for people to use.

3. In India making a financial app is really tough with all the constraints from the government a lot of boundaries are there.

4. Best part this app solved my problem too.

Learning and Improving the app

1. When we launched the app the main problem that we saw that sometimes when a user does a transaction they don't get the transaction message right away it took some time to come

( for some technical reason ). So to handle that problem quickly we started displaying only the total amount of transaction they did rather than showing how much balance they have left.

2.  After launching the app after few weeks the banks changed there messaging format in order to show the transaction. So to tackle that problem our developers quickly developed a solution

so that no matter how the message is display or jumbled up the app can still the transaction correctly.

This app is not for public because it was launched as a B2B product in order to sell it to other distributors and white label the product.

Also, I shared it on Uplabs website a few months back. It got a huge response from other designers and users.
